What are touch ups?
Touch ups or fill ins, are for eyelash extensions. Most like a fill every 2-3 weeks. A fill/touch up consists of a shorter appointment time. I cleanse the lashes and remove and replace all grown out and loose lashes. I finish with a sealer and you are on your way.

What if I want them removed?
Schedule a removal appointment. You do not want to try to take the extensions or mascara off. You run the risk of damaging and pulling out your natural lashes and it will hurt.

“What are Xtreme Lash, Novalash etc., or Semi-Permanent Lash Extensions? I’m Totally Confused!”

It’s important to distinguish between the service of eyelash extensions and the brand of products used. While there are many reputable brands such as Xtreme Lash, Novalash, and 3D Lash, the quality of the service should not be determined solely by the brand. Instead, when choosing a lash stylist, consider their level of experience, the number of clients they have, and their overall knowledge and expertise in the field.

Eyelash History & Lash, Wax & Relax Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Eyelash History

The history of false eyelashes can be traced back to the early days of Hollywood, where it is said that American movie director D.W. Griffith designed the first set of false lashes for his leading lady Phyllis Haver in 1916. He wanted her to have lashes that would grace her cheeks when she blinked or looked down. The lashes were created by a wig maker using human hair and gauze, and although the film itself was not a success, the lashes were remembered.

In the decades since, many leading ladies and celebrities have used false lashes to enhance their look. From Twiggy to cartoon characters such as Betty Boop and Miss Piggy, false lashes have always been a statement of elegance and beauty. Today, eyelash extensions are the fastest growing beauty trend in the world, and our spa is proud to offer this must-have service. More about Eyelash Extensions

Eyelash extensions are a revolutionary way to enhance your natural lashes. Our synthetic lashes are applied to your own lashes using a special adhesive, and come in a variety of lengths, curls, and thicknesses, allowing us to customize the application to suit your individual needs.

Eyelash extensions can be made from high-quality materials, including polyester, mink, silk, and real mink fur. Originally developed in Asia in the late 1990s, this beauty trend has now become a popular choice for women all over the world.

Unlike traditional mascara, eyelash extensions are semi-permanent and can last up to 30 to 60 days with proper care and regular maintenance. As the natural lashes grow and fall out, the extensions will fall out as well, and a touch-up application is needed to replace the fallen lashes and keep them looking fresh.

For a more temporary option, we also offer flares, which last 1 to 2 weeks and are perfect for special occasions. Our extensions come in different thicknesses ranging from .15 mm to .25mm, lengths from 8 mm to 15mm and curls J, C, D, Y, B and W curls. The most popular curls are J, B, and C Curl. Book an appointment with us today and experience the magic of eyelash extensions!

What type of eyelash training has your lash specialists received?

At Lash, Wax & Relax, we pride ourselves on the expertise and experience of our lash specialists. They have been trained by some of the top manufacturers in the industry, but we are not loyal to any one brand. We believe in learning from all manufacturers and using that knowledge to provide the best service possible.

We believe that safety is the top priority, so we use the best and most current products on the market. Our specialists stay up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques by regularly attending esthetician trade shows.

We understand that practice makes perfect, and that’s why we focus on experience when it comes to our lash specialists. A lash specialist who has been in the industry for many years is more likely to provide a high-quality service than one who has just received certification from a popular brand.

Lashologist & Master Cosmetologist Shea Evans states, “I have been doing lashes for many years now, and when I first started I was not the best in the industry. I went to training workshops after workshops and when it was all said and done, I figured out that I had to get my hands on as many people as I could to build my speed and master my hand manipulation. I have seen many poor lash jobs and I always say to myself this person needs a little more practice.”

When choosing a lash specialist, remember that experience is the best teacher. Don’t be swayed by popular brand names alone. Trust in the experience and expertise of our specialists at Lash, Wax & Relax for a professional and safe eyelash extension service.

How long will my Eyelash Extensions last?

Eyelash extensions are temporary and may last up to 3 to 8 weeks depending on the after care. A real lash life cycle is around 25-28 days and as yours grow and fall out, so will the synthetic ones that are attached. If your hair and nails grow quickly then that means that your lashes will also be growing, shedding and renewing themselves quickly. You may find that your lashes may not last as long as someone with slow hair growth. Your lifestyle and the type of work you do will also have a bearing on how long they will last. A person who works in the food industry, where there is quite a bit of heat, steam and oil may not last as well as someone who works in an air conditioned office.

Will I lose any of my own natural eyelashes?

On average, a person can lose up to 5 eyelashes per day. As long as you do not pull your eyelash extensions or use products not recommended, you do not have to worry.

Does your glue contain formaldehyde?

Please refer to the Xtreme Lash Website for details. Click here: http://www.xtremelashes.com/NC_eyelash_extensions_health_safety.aspx

What type of glue do you use?

We use four different types of glue. Each one is formulated for a certain wear time and application process. Please schedule an appointment for further details on our glue.Due to our competitor’s inquisitiveness, we only expose this information to actual clients.

What is the length each of the extensions?

We have four different lengths for the individual lashes; mini, short, med and long. Semi-Permanent lash extensions varies in length between 6mm-17mm.

Are the eyelash extensions glued to my skin?

No, they are applied 1mm away from your eye lid to your natural lashes.

I pull out my own natural lashes, can I replace them with Individuals or semi- permanent lash extensions?

Individuals lash extensions and Semi-Permanent Lash Extensions need to be attached to your own natural lashes. The adhesive is formulated to attach to hair, therefore the glue will not adhere to your skin, only your natural lash. You will not be a good client for lash extensions since you pull out your lashes in patches or clumps. You may try an eyelash strip since they attach to the upper eyelid skin.

Can I use an eyelash curler to curl my individual/semi lash extensions?

No, an eyelash curler will weaken and cause them to lift and come off.

Can I wear mascara?

Yes, but we recommend you use mascara formulated for extensions. Mascara will also shorten the life of your lash extensions. Flirt & Flutter suggest you try to avoid mascara. You can roll out of bed looking great and young as ever. Best of all, it will make your lashes look like you are wearing mascara 24/7 without the clumping, streaking, smudging look that you get from mascara usage. No more running and streaking mascara which is fantastic for brides on their wedding day.

Can I still wear I makeup?

Yes, but you don’t need mascara and you may find that you won’t need eyeliner. You may still use eyeliner or eyeshadow, but remember to remove with a product that does not contain oil of any kind as this will affect the glue. Flirt & Flutter carries after care products that will help extend the life of your individual lash extensions.

Will you provide me with aftercare instructions?

Yes, all clients receive aftercare instruction cards after each visit.

Is there any reason why I can’t have eyelash extensions applied (contraindications)?

Miss Eye Rubber– It is suggested that if you are an “eye-rubber” due to allergies such as hay fever or rubbing your eyes is a habit, you may not be able to wear extensions.

Miss Sensitivity– Having irritation around the eye area after using skin care or makeup, extensions may not suit you.

Miss Sneezy Sniffles– If you have a cold, sinus or allergy infection, please do not have this service done! Your lashes will not last a long time due to secretions and irritation from the eye area.

Miss Curly Q-Due to your lashes being curly you are definitely not a good candidate for extensions.Lash extensions must be applied to straight lashes to lay properly. Curly lashes tend to shorten the lash wear time. Generally, people with curly lashes, extensions may only last up to three days before they start to lift. If you have curly lashes we recommend that you purchase products from Flirt & Flutter to get your lashes straight. After treatment of the lashes you may then try this service.

Miss “I Have No Lashes”– A person with out any lashes may not wear lashes because there is no where to place them. Extensions must be placed on the natural lash and not the skin. These clients must refer to a strip lash.

Dramatic Volume Lash Extensions

The Golden Rule for wearing eyelash extensions:

“The Less You Touch Them, The Longer They Will Last!” However, it is important to keep the eye area clean
